Ask any animal lover anywhere — their pets are more than just their “pets.” They’re their world.
Their babies. Their children. Got it? My own two cats have their own Instagram accounts and middle names (which we absolutely use when they’re in trouble). And when we take them for a visit to my dad’s house, they know that they’re on their way to “Grandpa’s.”
So does Meghan Specksgoor’s beloved dog Chance, who recently went on an epic adventure with his own “Grandpa” when Meghan took a trip to New York City for a few days. While her dad was babysitting, he and Chance literally hit up everywhere from the park to the nail salon — with Chance “live-texting” their day to keep Meghan in the loop.
“Grandpa wants to know what kind of take-out I can have?” read one text from Chance. “We are starving.”
“Hi mom, it’s me again,” read another. “We had a picnic and are going to the nail salon now. Gramps said if I’m good I can have ice cream. What kind do I like again?”
And then there was this one, which was followed by a string of emojis with heart eyes: “Hate to keep bothering you, mom,” read another, “but we really need to hang out with gramps more.”
OMG — THIS IS SO CUTE I CAN’T HANDLE IT.
As you might imagine, Twitter promptly freaked out over the adorableness, and the thread has gone super viral since Meghan first posted it on Christmas Eve. For obvious reasons, plenty of Twitter users declared Grandpa Specksgoor to be the “best dad ever,” while others took the opportunity to upload photos of their own dogs named Chance.
And while Meghan’s dad certainly does deserve the Best Dad Ever Award for those stellar updates, he also might win the Most Adorably Unaware of the Internet Award, considering one of his daughter’s latest tweets, which shows he’s pretty perplexed by this whole “going viral” thing:
